IMMA presents the haunting film work Secretion, 2012, by leading Derry-born artist Willie Doherty. First shown to critical acclaim at dOCUMENTA 13, this site-specific film installation draws on the possibilities of lost and forgotten narratives located somewhere between recent history and a near future.

Open late on Thursday evenings to 7pm.

I knOw yoU: An exhibiton by a new generation of young European artists

I knOw yoU takes a fresh look at contemporary art in Europe and examines the idea of cultural capital; what it means to be European; and ideas at the core of the financial heart of Europe.

Open late on Thursday evenings to 7pm.

An extensive programme of talks and events coincides with this exhibition.

Artists' Residency Programme Updates

Studio Space Update
During the refurbishment at IMMA and the short-term postponement of the Artists’ Residency Programme, IMMA is working in association with Black Church Print Studio, Ormond Studios, Richmond Road Studios, Temple Bar Gallery + Studios and Wickham Street Studios to provide working spaces for artists in the studios at IMMA.

From March to June artists Michelle Browne, Janine Davidson, Ramon Kassam and Joan Stack are working from IMMA’s studios. This opportunity was realised through an open nomination and selection process in conjunction with national artists’ studios.

New Galleries closed until 22 June due to installation of upcoming exhibition

The Museum wishes to advise visitors that, owing to the installation of a new exhibition, Cloud Illusions I Recall, the New Galleries at IMMA will be closed until 22 June 2013.

The exhibition I knOw yoU, which takes a fresh look at contemporary art in Europe, and a film work, Secretion, 2012, by internationally acclaimed Derry born artist Willie Doherty continues in our off-site location IMMA at NCH until 1 September 2013.

While the New Galleries will be closed the grounds of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham will remain open. There are four outdoor art trails available in the grounds and the café and bookshop will remain open as normal.

Please Note - Cafe Closures: Due to EU Ministerial events being held at the RHK the café and grounds of IMMA will be closed to the public on Monday 27 May. The café will also be closed on Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 May. The Museum regrets the inconvenience caused.

What is Marxism and Critical Theory? at NCH | IMMA + NCAD - Talk, Screening and Panel Discussion

Saturday 25 May, Lecture Room, IMMA Off-Site at NCH

A new series in the IMMA What is _? programme focuses on theoretical perspectives, What is Theory?. The first talk addresses What is Marxims and Critical Theory?. This introduction talk will be followed by a screening of Intelligence Squared’s debate Karl Marx was Right and a panel discussion.

Closure of Main Building at IMMA

The Museum wishes to advise visitors that, owing to essential and extensive refurbishment works, the main building at IMMA will remain closed until 12 October 2013.

During this period exhibitions will be shown in two separate locations – the New Galleries in the grounds of the Royal Hospital in Kilmainham and the ground floor exhibition spaces in the National Concert Hall building in Earlsfort Terrace.
