Curator's Talk: Juan Manuel Bonet Vertical Thoughts: Morton Feldman and the Visual Arts Tuesday, 30 March, 5.00pm, the Lecture Room, IMMA. Juan Manuel Bonet, exhibition curator, introduces Vertical Thoughts: Morton Feldman and the Visual Arts, an exhibition which comprises of music scores, record covers, photographs and documents, including paintings by fourteen artists associated with Feldman. This talk explores Morton Feldman’s long career as a widely acclaimed composer and his close association with a number of visual artists – particularly those connected with the New York School, such as; Williem de Kooning, Philip Guston, Jasper Johns, Franz Kline, Piet Mondrian, Barnett Newman, Jackson Pollock, Robert Rauschenberg, Ad Reinhardt, Mark Rothko and Cy Twombly. Juan Manuel Bonet is an independent curator and former Director of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid, Spain. This is followed by the exhibition preview a wine reception and a musical performance see details below. Juan Manuel Bonet will deliver his lecture in Spanish, with English simultaneous translation available to all participants. Performance Richard O'Donnell performs, The King of Denmark; a 10 min percussion arrangement which takes place in IMMA's Chapel at 7pm. Booking only necessary for the curator's talk listed above. |
