Film Screening : Wide Details - Francis Alys

Wide Details on the traces of Francis Al˙s, directed by Julien Devaux and Francis Al˙s, French edition (subtitles in English) 56 Min, DV-Cam, 2006.

12, 13, 14 May, daily screening at 3pm in Lecture Room, IMMA

Screened in association with the current exhibition, Le Temps du Sommeil by artist Francis Alys in the east ground galleries at IMMA, this short documentary film by Julien Devaux features Belgian born contemporary artist Francis Al˙s who has lived in Mexico City for the past fifteen years. The film, Wide Details, invites the viewer to discover Ayls’s ongoing singular artistic work as a painter, photographer, video artist and urban interventionist.

Unfolding the artists’ process of transforming the action of wandering into an art form, the film starts in the heart of Mexico City and follows the artist on his journey to various working projects in London, Berlin, Lima and Jerusalem. Through the city of Mexico, the film explores the relationship between artist and his urban environment, raising questions of travel, and shared experiences of chance encounters.

No booking is required to attend as viewing is on a drop in basis.
