Open Discussion: From Process to Practice
In conjunction with the retrospective of works by artist Lynda Benglis, Chairperson Valerie Connor invites artists, Alibhe Murphy, Sam Jury and Tina O Connell to reflect upon the trend of process lead methodologies on a subsequent generation of contemporary art practitioners whose work ranges from object based to interdisciplinary in approach.

What is (New) Media Art?
This talk series provides a general introduction to key concepts and themes in contemporary art. Maeve Connolly, Department of Film and Media, Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology, present a paper titled New Media Art, Art and (New) Media, Through the Lens of the IMMA Collection. This focuses on artists and artworks in IMMA’s Collection as a means of describing and contextualising this complex and contested area of contemporary art practice.

Daniel de Chenu presents a gallery discussion on the exhibition of photographic works from MOMA’s collection titled, Picturing New York. Using examples of work presented in this exhibition, de Chenu explores the impact of key photographers and how they significantly influenced the photographic practice of todays widely acclaimed contemporary artists.

In Conversation with Jorge Pardo
Artist, Jorge Pardo takes part in a panel conversation with Shumon Basar, architect, writer, curator, Alex Coles, art critic, Irving Sandler, art critic and Rachael Thomas, Head of Exhibitions, IMMA. This event marks the preview of a ‘virtually’ curated exhibition consisting of 60-100 artworks, installations and projects and is accompanied by a unique catalogue of an audio conference between the above panellists to be available on the web.A transcription of these virtual conversations will be available for downloads from the IMMA website.

Using images, audio and video excerpts from the work of Philippe Parreno throughout the 1990s, Jorn Schafaff presents a lecture that reconsiders a question posed by the artist in 1995: "Could an exhibition be a film without a camera?"
